Prince Edward Island

About us:
In 2002 a group of nurses interested in the issues in managing the health of older adults formed a working committe and in 2004 PEIGNA was officially organized as an association. We want to acknowledge the founding members of PEIGNA: Marilyn Kennedy, Elaine Campbell, Anna Inma, and Florence Rossiter.

Gerontological nursing is a speciality and the more knowledge nurses have the more prepared they are to share with their colleagues and influence policy makers and the care of the older adult population. Over the past 5 years PEIGNA has made some progress in strengthening linkage and communication across the province and plans to continue this work.

PEIGNA organizes an annual spring conference that is well attended by professionals across the province. The 2008 conference sponsors were CGNA, Friendly Pharmacy, and Andrews of PEI
