Objectives
The mission of the MGNA is to promote continuous improvement in care and service for older adults across the care continuum in collaboration with older adults and other health care disciplines. In striving to achieve our mission, the MGNA has identified the following strategic directions for the upcoming year:

1. Membership Recruitment
We envision strong representation of nurses practicing across the health care continuum within the MGNA. Efforts to achieve this vision will include:
Exploring means of outreach to potential members/chapters in rural areas, i.e., The Pas, Brandon and to nursing students
Providing updated information on the MGNA website, i.e. upcoming events, certification news, membership information and forms, etc.
Hosting a ‘bring a friend’ wine and cheese reception with education session in September 2007.
Sending an e-mail/letter reminder to members who had not yet renewed their memberships this year.

2. Member Recognition
We value the contribution of nurses to the gerontological specialty and wish to ensure that such contributions are recognized and celebrated. Efforts to achieve this vision will include:
Submitting an article about the MGNA Nursing Distinction Awards recipients in Nurscene.
Highlighting member profiles in each edition of the MGNA newsletter and profiling the gerontological nursing specialty in other organizational newsletters.
Sending congratulatory letters and offering a 1-year free membership to Manitoba nurses who achieved gerontological certification.

3. Member Education
One of the objectives of the MGNA is to provide continuing education and professional development opportunities for those who nurse and care for older adults. Efforts to achieve this vision will include:
Offering educational sessions following each of the 3 general meetings on topics pertinent to membership.
Maintaining an e-mail list of members and contacts and circulating information and notices of upcoming meetings and events.
Collaborating with the Manitoba Gerontology Association to hold a joint educational event.
Hosting a full-day educational session in conjunction with the AGM every second year.
Supporting CNA certification study groups to assist members to prepare to write certification exams.
Distributing the MGNA newsletter on a quarterly basis.

4. Promoting Gerontology As A Speciality
Hosting 2004 CGNA conference
Investigating the need to revise the MGNA by-laws re; committees
